The KS3 topics in 'Beowulf to Buzzwords' offer resources to teachers to encourage students to explore the development of English including origins of words, borrowings and changes over time. A range of extracts from literature, word-matching, word-building and creative activities is designed to enable the student to engage with the English language and begin to grasp some of its story and its potential for creativity and fun. There are printouts and springboards for class activities.

The Post-16 topic menu offers opportunities for students to engage with the development of the English language through texts, exercises and activities. Students can trace the origins of words through extracts from literature, make comparisons across time and use the resource to increase their understanding of the wealth and potential of the language we have today. Aspects of the English language past and present are presented in ways designed to enhance the study of English language and literature at A/AS levels.
