The
activities in this project are designed to work best with
Microsoft Internet Explorer v.4 or later. Some
of the interactive exercises may not appear or function
correctly with other browser types. |

Pupils
need pen and paper when working on this project. Some
activities can be completed on screen, some are written
activities and some include both approaches. Some activities,
e.g. the Crossword will need to be downloaded. There are
also springboard suggestions for research work or creative
writing. In a classroom with a limited number of computers,
there are therefore possibilities for all pupils to be
working simultaneously. |

The
activities encourage the use of dictionaries. Etymological
dictionaries are recommended for the Nicholas Nickleby
and the 'Borrowed Words' activities. A thesaurus is necessary
e.g. for one of the 'Borrowed Words' activities. |

The
project will expand to cover more topics in the future
to deliver a fuller range of National Curriculum related
activities. |
