LEANDERSSON
AND ISAAC WIN 2000 AMF BOWLING WORLD CUP
LISBON. PORTUGAL.
October 21. 2000 - Tomas Leandersson of Sweden and Mel Isaac of
Wales are the 2000 AMF Bowling World Champions.
MEN
Leandersson, a 34-year-old bowling center owner from Degersfors
and the No. 2 seed of the best-two-of-three-games single-elimination
finals, defeated two former Bowling World Cup champions to win his
first World Cup title. He dispatched Mohammed Al-Qubaisi of the
UAE in their semifinal match Saturday, 2 games to 1, with scores
of 242-223, 215-223 and 207-201. Leandersson then ousted top-seeded
Tore Torgersen of Norway in the championship match, 2 games to 0,

his runnerup finish in the only other Bowling World Cup he has competed
in, the 1993 edition in South Africa.
