Get an atlas from the class or school library and find a modern map of Japan. By looking carefully at the modern map identify which of the three maps shown was the most accurate.

The ship that used this one was more likely to survive than ships using the less accurate ones - especially if there was a storm and they had to find a safe harbour to shelter in!
