Light the beacons

If you look very carefully at the map you should be able to find several hills with beacons on the top. Once you find one of these beacons, click on it and you will be able to see the whole chain.

These beacons were part of the warning system that went right across the country. If they were lit it meant something was wrong - an invasion or an uprising - and the beacons would be lit across the country to carry the news. At the time it was the quickest way of getting the information to London.
