2. Combined or Compound words

These can be the simple joining of two words e.g. jobcentre, witchcraft, briefcase, singsong or climbdown.

They can involve affixing other lexemes* or units of meaning that may not be able to stand alone. Familiarity with these lexemes increases your ability to understand new words in the future.

* a lexeme is a unit of meaning which may be part of a word or may be more than one word 'wash up' or 'piece of cake' (= easy)

Look through the words below. Combine as many of the lexemes as you can in the following ways and record the results. Each one can be used more than once.
