"When
my father died she lost interest, you know. She
could see that there was no future for her, she
didn't want to live without my father. They loved
each other very much, they needed each other,
and I don't think, even if she had survived she
couldn't see herself having a happy future, so
she didn't really want to live somehow, she gave
up. And I tried terribly hard to encourage her
to, you know, to get herself well, and
but
she then went to the hospital and she died there.
And that's when I stopped believing in God. Well,
you know, I
when she was so ill and I was
so afraid she would die, I prayed and prayed and
prayed and prayed. I just prayed, just to save
her, just to save her, to let her live, all the
time. And she died, and I said well, there isn't
a god, and if there is one he doesn't care about
me, why should I care about him? And that was
it, I never believed in a god since."
