* What are prefixes and suffixes?

A prefix is a letter or letters that are added on to the start of a word to change its meaning or purpose in some way eg
undo = un (prefix) + do; decompose = de + compose
.
A suffix is a letter or letters that are added to the end of a word, usually to change its use or purpose in some way eg
Glor(y) + fy = glorify; combin(e) + ation = combination.

Some words have both a prefix and a suffix eg re + pay + ment = repayment.
